Pinch the top few inches of your mums, sedums, asters, and other fall-blooming perennials. This will keep them from growing too big, promote branching (which means more blooms), and also strengthen the stems so that they don’t fall over or split when they bloom in the fall. You can do so up to the Fourth of July.
